Saunders Boston was appointed by the Client to design an innovative fit out and oversee the CAT A works for their new UK HQ premises. As a pioneering R&D technology company, the Client is experiencing rapid growth. A complex scheme was required to accommodate immediate and longer term expansion whilst capturing the personality of the brand and diversity of its employees.
The Client operates strict confidential procedures, a factor that was assimilated in to the design through layout solutions, acoustic treatments, CCTV, access control, blinds and privacy film.
The scheme was developed in close collaboration with stakeholders in the UK and US, with all staff contributing ideas for themes and senior engineers developing design criteria for specialist laboratories. Whilst collaboration is key to the function and performance of individual teams, the focussed work of engineers necessitates allocated workstations in a quiet environment. Flexible work bays with ergonomic sit stand desking and screens are configured to allow for variations in team sizes whilst enabling an effective set up for specialist equipment at each workstation.
Inclusivity and staff wellbeing were given the highest priority. The provision of a welfare room was incorporated in to the scheme, doubling up as an informal meeting room.
