Saunders Boston Architects were appointed up to planning by Hill Residential to develop this greenfield site on the southern boundary of Great Abington.
The site is particularly important as it completes the pattern of development and helps create a formal entrance to the village.
The project includes 20no residential units configured in a mix of detached and semi-detached properties for both private sale and affordable rent. The layout and design was influenced by the local context and provided new pedestrian links to the village and amenities.
The new units were located to front the public sides of the site whilst a landscaped boundary was developed to act as a buffer to the adjacent fields.
Designed in a traditional style, dwellings have utilised local materials and pitched roofs to compliment the existing character of the village.
The scheme received strong support from the local community including the Parish Council and was subsequently granted planning permission in 2017.
Moorefield was completed in 2018.
