The Swifts

This project at The Windmill Estate in Fulbourn, near Cambridge encompassed the demolition of 160 homes originally constructed in the 1960’s and the building of 257 homes developed over four phases. A mix of rented, shared ownership and private sale houses, bungalows and flats are provided across all phases.

Saunders Boston was originally appointed by Accent Nene as a Clerk of Works for on-site delivery.

Following on from our successful involvement of the first three phases, Saunders Boston were approached by the successful Design and Build contractor (Carter Homes) to act as Lead Consultant for RIBA work stages E-L for Phase 2(b).

All homes meet Sustainable Homes Level 3 and utilise Modern Methods of Construction (MMC).The development was official opened in 2015.

Phase 2b of this scheme was listed as one of Inside Housing’s Top 60 non-grant funded developments 2015, judges’ comments on the project included the following:
